Tasting Notes: Juranҫon Sec, Clos Lapeyre 2014, South West, France

A flagship appellation from South west France, tucked in  the Piemont of the Pyrenees mountains, not too far from the Atlantic coast, this area is producing probably the most under rated sweet and dry white wine from the hexagon, using local grapes such as  Gros Manseng.

Tasting notes:

Juranҫon Sec, Clos Lapeyre 2014, clear and bright, displays a pale golden colour with silver tinges.

The nose seems to be discreet, offering some orange peel notes, but finally opens up delivering a wide range of stone fruits flavours (apricot, yellow and white peach), delicate floral note of Honeysuckle, completed by charming almond and brioche fragrances.

On the palate, the Gros Manseng showcase it’s complexity through this yellow fruits character, fresh tangerine and orange, highlighted by a hint of white pepper. Then appears the expression of the soil through a mineral, almost salty character, bringing a perfect balance to the wine.

Perfect to be enjoyed now, but with the potential to age a few more years (3 to 5).

Suggested pairing at Le Pont de la Tour:
